Located inside Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park in Mandan, the Custer House is a historical landmark that is a reconstruction of the original home. It was once owned by Lieutenant George Custer and his wife Libbie, who both lived in the home from 1873 until George's death in 1876 at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
Visitors can tour the home and take in the history while interpreters in period costumes guide you. The home is believed to be haunted by Libbie, who is in search of her husband to this day. Some of the eerie paranormal reports surrounding the Custer House include lights that frequently flicker on and off, doors that open and close on their own, and the sound of disembodied voices. Libbie's apparition has all been spotted wearing a black dress.
